Today was a great day. We had our first follow up with Dr. Smithers and team outpatient.
He was very pleased with how Milo is doing and said it would be safe to travel home next week.
He will have an esophagram at 6 weeks post op at home and we will discuss coming back for a dilation after that!
We will experiment with food cautiously in the mean time (small amounts of purées and water by mouth full feeds of formula through gtube) and we will follow up with speech therapy when we get home.
This is incredible news. I feel so hopeful and excited for Milo’s progress. But still feel a need to check myself. Not getting my hopes up. There is always a chance of a recurrent stricture or other set backs. We celebrate this victory, and we cheer for our boy. But I keep my eyes wide open always ready to react and pivot if necessary. That’s medical mom life.
In other news, Charlie had an incredible day. We had the best time chasing dolphins on a dolphin cruise. It was for sure a highlight. Lots more fun memories to make before we head home. ❤️
Love to hear this update T! And my goodness does that Florida sunshine look good on you & Charlie….smiles say it all!☀️🐬🤗 Keep plugging, Pizzo & I are thinking about you all.
Elyanah sends Charlie and Milo lots of hugs. We hope to celebrate this great news once you’re back
